डेविस कप: इस्लामाबाद में नहीं होंगे मैच, नाराज ऐसाम उल हक कुरैशी ने दी प्रतियोगिता से हटने की धमकी

पाकिस्तान के दिग्गज टेनिस खिलाड़ी ऐसाम उल हक कुरैशी ने भारत के खिलाफ खेले जाने वाले डेविस कप टेनिस टूर्नामेंट में खेलने से सीधा इंकार कर दिया है. बता दें कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय टेनिस महासंघ (आईटीएफ) ने दोनों देशों के बीच मनमुटाव की वजह से डेविस कप को इस्लामाबाद की जगह कजाकिस्तान में स्थानांतरित कर सकता है. आईटीएफ के इसी फैसले की वजह से ऐसाम ने टूर्नामेंट में खेलने से इंकार कर दिया है. पाकिस्तान टेनिस टीम के दिग्गज खिलाड़ियों में शुमार ऐसाम ने सोमवार को इंस्टाग्राम पर एक वीडियो जारी कर आईटीएफ के फैसले का विरोध जताया.

उन्होंने कहा कि अगर मुकाबले का आयोजन इस्लामाबाद में नहीं होता है तो वह इसमें नहीं खेलेंगे. उनकी इस पोस्ट से संकेत मिलते हैं कि आईटीएफ तटस्थ स्थान पर मुकाबले को स्थानांतरित करने के खिलाफ पाकिस्तान टेनिस महासंघ की अपील को खारिज कर सकता है. अपनी पोस्ट में पीटीएफ अध्यक्ष सलीम सैफुल्लाह को जानकारी देते हुए ऐसाम ने भारत और आईटीएफ की आलोचना की.

Dear Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan Assalamoalikum, I have been deeply saddened to learn from you that ITF continues to insist to take away our right of holding Davis Cup tie against India at our home ground and have decided to hold it outside Pakistan at a neutral venue under Indian influence. The attitude towards Pakistan of both All Indian Tennis Association and ITF is highly deplorable, to say it the least. There is absolutely no threat foreseen for Indian tennis team in Pakistan. As you very well know hundreds of Indians are regularly visiting Pakistan to perform their religious activities in various places like Kartarpur, Nankana Sahib and Taxila and there has not been a single incident of violence or mishandling with any Indian National ever in Pakistan and for sure not at all in recent years. Recently, high profile visit of British Royal family took place during which the Royal couple visited several cities in Pakistan including Islamabad, Lahore and Chitral. Her Majesty the Queen of Holland is visiting Pakistan this week. Recently football stars like Kaka, Figo and Puyol visited Pakistan. If everyone else can come including hundreds of other Indians every day then why can't a few member Indian Tennis team visit Pakistan when Pakistan has assured them of extremely high level security protocol. They should not insult and disgrace our security forces by saying that they cannot assure the safety and security of a few member Indian tennis team. If the excuse is the tension between India and Pakistan due to what Indians have done in Kashmir then why should we be penalized for their wrong doing. However, if ITF does not correct their wrong decision then as a protest against this unjust, unfair and biased decision I want to raise my voice and hereby announce not to participate in this tie if it takes place outside Pakistan. I must stress that I am always very passionate about representing my country in Davis Cup ties but this time around it is more important that I stand up for the honour and dignity of my country by refusing to accept an incorrect unjust and undesirable decision. The President of PTF and the people of Pakistan are requested to understand my stand.

ऐसाम ने लिखा, ‘‘अखिल भारतीय टेनिस संघ और आईटीएफ दोनों का पाकिस्तान के प्रति रवैया बेहद निंदनीय है. पाकिस्तान में भारतीय टेनिस टीम को कोई खतरा नहीं था. हालांकि अगर आईटीएफ अगर इस गलत फैसले को सही नहीं करता है तो इस अन्यायपूर्ण, अनुचित और भेदभाव से भरे फैसले के विरोध में मैं अपनी आवाज उठाना चाहता हूं और घोषणा करता हूं कि अगर यह मुकाबला पाकिस्तान के बाहर हुआ तो इसमें हिस्सा नहीं लूंगा.’’

ऐसाम ने कहा कि उन्होंने गलत और अनुचित फैसले को स्वीकार करने से इनकार करके अपने देश के सम्मान और प्रतिष्ठा के लिए खड़े होने का फैसला किया है. उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘पीटीएफ के अध्यक्ष और पाकिस्तान की जनता से आग्रह है कि वे मेरे रुख को समझें.’’ बता दें कि उधर दूसरी ओर भारत के रोहन बोपन्ना कंधे की चोट की वजह से प्रतियोगिता से बाहर हो गए हैं.
